Children, Youth & Family Missional Coordinator Diocese of Niagara Purpose of Position
To resource and support missional ministries for children, youth and families, coordinating a parish-based ministry network and other diocesan events, programs, and initiatives, furthering the diocesan Mission Action Plan with a focus on the formation of missional leaders who can inspire and equip others for their participation in God’s mission in the world.
PRIMARY Responsibilities- To encourage the spiritual growth and faith formation of children, youth and young adults by equipping parish and diocesan leaders for ministry with, for, and by them, and in particular, to mentor and empower youth as they discern and live out their vocations.
- To consult with parish and diocesan groups, teams, or organizations to enhance their ministry to and with children, youth, and families.
- To facilitate, and provide training to volunteers, related to diocesan programs focused on the formation of youth and young adults for missional leadership, including but not limited to the Youth Leadership Training Program.
- To help parishes and missions to connect with the families in their neighborhoods.
- To create, access, gather, update, and disseminate missional resources to support and enhance ministry focused on children, youth and families.
- To serve as a diocesan liaison and consultant for children’s ministry programming and policies at Canterbury Hills camp.
- To share opportunities for youth and young adult faith formation and ministry happening outside of the diocese through parish and diocesan networks.
- A deep and abiding personal faith in Christ and evidenced zeal for God’s mission in the world and strong ability to articulate faith experiences and model the way of Jesus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Capacity to multi-task and effectively prioritize to meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated competency with program design and administration, process facilitation, group dynamics, conflict management, leadership training and community development.
- Ability to recruit, train, support and work with volunteers.
- Staff or volunteer leadership experience of program work at the parish or diocesan level.
- Specific training in children, youth, and family ministry; an undergraduate degree preferred.
- Familiar with the life, culture and worship of the Anglican Church of Canada and supportive of its particular expressions throughout the Diocese of Niagara.
- Demonstrated creativity and commitment to life-long learning.
The salary for this part-time position will be commensurate with experience (expected annual range is $32,500-$35,000) and includes pension and benefit plan participation.
