Part-Time, Support Services Worker

Overview

Part-Time, Support Services Worker at Thrive Group (Able Living Services, Binbrook team). Able Living Services is part of Thrive Group, a not-for-profit organization funded through Ontario Health. Able Living opened its doors in 1978. The Binbrook location provides support for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those with long-term chronic ventilation support needs.

• Laundry and housekeeping: keep client rooms and common areas clean, tidy, and safe; collect, launder, and return clients’ personal laundry; occasional simple sewing repairs.
• Meal prep and food service: assist with meal preparation, maintain food inventory, ensure safe food handling, and help serve meals to clients; assist the Cook as needed.
• Team collaboration: work with the Cook, other staff, and clients to create a welcoming environment.

• Has at least a Grade 10 education (preferred).
• Can obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate within 60 days of starting (guidance provided).
• Reliable, punctual, with strong time management; able to meet the physical demands of the role (standing, bending, lifting).
• Enjoys working in a team and with seniors or adults with disabilities in a home-like setting.
• Knowledge of cleaning detergents and laundering equipment; experience in long-term care or retirement home settings is a bonus.
• A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Police Records Check.
• Access to reliable transportation is required (location not accessible by public transit).

• Job Type: Part-Time, Contract (12 months)
• Starting Rate: $18.21/hour as per CUPE Local Collective Agreement
