We are accredited through Transport Canada and EURAMI. Latitude’s team includes licensed physicians, paramedics, registered nurses, and respiratory therapists, selected to match patient needs.

Flight Registered Nurse:
Your journey begins here! We are a private Air Ambulance Service located at The Hamilton International Airport in Mount Hope, Ontario, Canada.

We are looking for a qualified, professional, experienced RN with 2-3 years in a full-time ICU, CCU or ER setting. The ideal candidate works well as part of a team, handles stressful situations, and has excellent communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and multitasking ability. The role provides high quality respiratory care and involves assessing and treating patients according to Latitude Aeromedical standards to determine and prioritize care for safe transport of the critical patient.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on patient care from initial contact until handover to the accepting medical facility; maintain thorough patient care documentation.
  • Practice nursing skills within scope of practice.
  • Maintain competency through ongoing clinical experience and communicate educational needs to the Medical Base Director and Medical Education Coordinator.
  • Maintain documentation of licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation, and safety training.
  • Attend continuing education programs pertinent to area of practice.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and supplies used by Latitude. Report medical equipment failures. Maintain adequate onboard supplies and keep aircraft clean and orderly to ensure rapid response to transport requests.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
  • Function as a medical flight team member. Comply with safety standards to ensure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment.
  • Perform advanced skills and procedures as approved by Latitude Aeromedical Works.
  • Serve as a role model, educator, and clinical resource. Act as a preceptor and participate in orientation of new employees; participate in continuing education programs.
  • Attend and participate in meetings according to departmental guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and administrative activities as assigned.
Qualifications – Hard Skills
  • Minimum 2-3 years of recent full-time ICU, CCU, or ER experience with adult populations; pediatric experience is a bonus.
  • Current ACLS/BLS is required; TNCC, NRP, PALS or similar is an asset.
  • Must hold a valid Canadian passport with no travel or visa restrictions.
  • BScN from an accredited university; in good standing with the CNO.
  • All other licenses or certifications required in scope of practice.
  • Immunizations up to date, including COVID-19.
  • Clear vulnerable sector check submitted at time of hire.
  • Ability to provide a Flight Medical upon hire.
  • Second language in written/verbal is an asset.

Other Essential Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 20 days per month with on-call rotations of 10 on / 5 off (schedule provided annually).
  • Ability to get to Hamilton International Airport for dispatch within 1 hour.
