Position: Senior Assessor (Ontario)
SUMMARY
The Building Condition Assessor II applies building condition assessment processes and technical standards in conducting (specialized) asset assessments for the purpose of identifying asset condition and deficiencies.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies knowledge of building condition assessment processes and technical standards in conducting asset assessments, annual building inspections and other specialized asset assessmentsConducts asset condition assessmentsIdentifies and evaluates specialized asset component and systems conditions and deficienciesCompletes asset assessment condition reports utilizing asset assessment management softwareProvides recommendations and cost estimates for building envelopes, components and systems repair or replacement for inclusion in the capital budget planLead scheduling and coordinates site activitiesOther duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
University degree in relevant field such as architectural, civil, mechanical electrical engineering, building science or building engineering3-5 Years of relevant work experienceEnrolled in EIT or an assetGeneral knowledge of technical standards and process in completing building condition assessments, in particular American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E2018-15 “Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments:
Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process”Advanced knowledge of the process of cost estimating for replacement and repair of building components and systemsGeneral knowledge of building science including base knowledge of all areas of study - architectural building envelope, mechanical and electrical building systems or site componentsSpecialized knowledge in one of the fields of study - Architectural, structural, building envelope, mechanical and electrical building systemsGeneral knowledge of general building design, construction and facility operation of commercial buildingsAbility to work independently and learn quicklyStrong written communication skillsProficient with MS Excel and ability to learn other applications quicklyStrong computer skillsDetailed-orientedValid drivers’ license with ability to travel 50-70%Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
Valid drivers’ licenseLEED Certification from Canada Green Building Council, an asset
