Your Opportunity

Dillon’s Electrical Discipline is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. You will work on new and exciting projects while delivering a fully integrated client experience. The role can be based out of any Ontario office and offers flexible work hours and optional hybrid arrangements.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

  • Lead full‑spectrum project delivery: from requirement gathering, preliminary design, full design, construction, site reviews, commissioning, and troubleshooting for environmental, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, municipal, institutional and infrastructure projects.
  • Design and draft power and electrical systems for low and medium voltage, motor control, lighting, instrumentation & control, emergency power, fire alarm & security, communications and other related systems.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, technical specifications, drawings, contract documents, technical reports, and perform testing and verification of electrical systems.
  • Assist in site investigations/reviews, create deficiency reports, determine existing conditions during renovation design.
  • Support construction administration tasks: shop drawing review, RFIs, change orders, risk assessments and safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and coordinate with utilities, suppliers, contractors and clients.
  • Peer review to ensure all designs meet quality standards and applicable codes (Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, UL, NFPA, etc.).
Business Development
  • Contribute to client‑needs research, prepare proposals and presentations.
  • Travel to other Dillon offices as required.
Learning & Development
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and learning.
  • Guide junior staff through project management, training, and mentoring.
  • Participate in professional associations and committees to support Dillon’s corporate profile.
Qualifications
  • Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six months.
  • Minimum 5 years of related professional experience.
Experience
  • Proven design and preparation of low and medium voltage electrical systems including electrical equipment layout, one‑line diagrams, engineering studies, power design, instrumentation, control, load analysis, voltage drop, cable sizing, grounding, arc‑flash, relay coordination, SCADA, overhead/underground design, motor control, lighting, communications, security, and fire alarm design.
  • Experience preparing specification documents for material and equipment purchase and installation.
  • Demonstrated delivery of accurate, constructable designs that meet industry standards and good engineering practices.
  • Project management and business development success across various project types.
  • Code compliance reviews for Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, UL, NFPA, etc.
  • Coordination with power and communications utilities to connect to existing and new networks.
  • Strong documentation skills: completion packages, as‑built requirements, and return data.
  • Leadership experience on multidisciplinary teams and technical design teams.
  • Optional: electrical power and distribution design for utilities, fault protection, protective relay design.
  • Proficiency in providing technical leadership to professionals; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
