The Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Indiana University, South Bend invites applications for a one semester Visiting Lecturer position for the Spring Semester of the 2026 academic year. We are seeking an engaging instructor to join our collegial department and contribute to our undergraduate curriculum. The area of specialization is open and the area of competence is ethics and critical thinking.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and student mentorship.
- Teach a 4-course online course load during the Spring 2026 semester. There is no possibility of renewal.
- Develop and deliver course content for assigned undergraduate courses, including introductory-level courses such as Critical Thinking, Applied Ethics, and Introduction to Philosophy.
- At least an M.A. in philosophy; a Ph.D. in Philosophy (or ABD) preferred by the time of appointment.
- Evidence of effective and innovative teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Preferred:
Prior teaching experience in a similar higher education environment.
- Letter of application addressing your interest in the position and relevant qualifications.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Statement of teaching philosophy.
- Names of three individuals who could serve as references.
- Official transcripts for all graduate work.
