We offer three (3) exciting summer student positions:
- Camp Counsellor
- Supie Counsellor
- Wading Pool Attendant
Hours: Monday to Friday up to 42.5 hours per week
Duration: June 15 - August 28, 2026
What’s involved?
Camp Counsellors plan and deliver programming activities and games for a group of 8-10 children aged 4 to 12. They follow a daily schedule and participate in programming, including swimming, outdoor activities, and offsite trips. Camp Counsellors work as part of a camp team at a recreation centre location. They also complete administrative duties, including attendance tracking, weekly planning and daily reports.
What qualifications do I need?
- Previous experience organising activities for children aged 4-12 in a camp setting.
- Must possess and maintain current certification in "Standard" First Aid with CPR Level "C" (clearly identified on your resume). All certificates issued by a WSIB recognised training agency.
- Must be able to obtain Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification before first scheduled shift.
- Must be sixteen (16) years of age within the 2026 calendar year.
Hours: Monday to Friday – 24 to 35 hours per week (Weather Dependent)
Duration: June 15 - August 28, 2026
What’s involved?
Working outside all day, Supie Counsellors plan and deliver programming activities and games in a local City of Hamilton park. They also complete administrative duties, including attendance tracking and daily reports.
What qualifications do I need?
- Previous experience organising activities for children aged 4-12.
- Must possess and maintain current certification in "Standard" First Aid with CPR Level "C" (clearly identified on your resume). All certificates issued by a WSIB recognised training agency.
- Must be able to obtain Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certification before first scheduled shift.
- Must be at least fourteen (14) years of age at time of application.
Hours: 24 to 30 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Duration: June 15 – August 28th, 2026 (Dundas Driving Park – September 7th, 2026)
Wading pool locations: Andy Warburton, Beemer Park, Dundas Driving Park, Gage Park, Jesse Patterson, Powell Park.
What’s involved?
Wading Pool Attendants monitor wading pools located throughout Hamilton. They perform pool maintenance, include draining, filling, cleaning the pool area of debris, maintaining chemicals, ensure lifesaving equipment is maintained and available, enforce wading pool rules and respond to customer inquiries professionally, perform rescues and first aid within certification standards, report hazards, maintenance concerns, and unsafe conditions immediately to the Aquatic Supervisor or designate, complete appropriate documentation as required including pool log, attendance, accident and incident reports, work in accordance with health and safety legislation and all City of Hamilton policies and procedures.
What qualifications do I need?
