The Data Science Program in the College of Arts and Sciences at Quinnipiac University is seeking applications for a part-time faculty instructor for the Data Science Summer Program (link to program details).
This exciting 2-week, pre-college, summer program for high school students will run from 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday from July 6-17, 2026 (two weeks). There is a $2,000 planning experience stipend and another $2,000 per week for instruction (maximum compensation of $6,000). Room and board may be available for qualified candidates.
ResponsibilitiesIn consultation with the Data Science Program, the instructor will be responsible for helping design and implement the program activities that help high‑school‑aged students to explore the breadth and depth of data science. Possible topics to be featured include:
- Introduction to computer programming
- Basic concepts in probability and statistics
- Data structure and storage
- Machine learning
- Data visualization
- Data ethics
- Applications of data science
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline. A graduate degree, or current enrollment in a graduate program in one of these disciplines, is highly desirable. Prior experience in teaching Python and/or R, especially in secondary education, is preferred.
This is an ideal position for early career data scientists, computer scientists, or statisticians who are interested in gaining teaching and curriculum design experience.
