Position: Director, Head of Commercial & Industrial Investments

Overview

A private equity–backed renewable energy investment platform is seeking a senior investment professional to lead its Commercial and Industrial (C&I) solar investment strategy across Europe. The role will focus on origination, structuring, and execution of distributed solar PV, battery storage, and related energy transition assets. The successful candidate will oversee deployment of capital into mid-scale clean energy projects
, working closely with development partners, corporates, and internal portfolio management teams to scale the firm’s distributed energy platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the firm’s investment strategy for C&I solar, storage, and distributed generation assets across target markets.
• Identify, evaluate, and execute equity and structured investments in distributed energy portfolios and platforms.
• Oversee due diligence, valuation, and financial structuring for new investments.
• Prepare and present investment papers for the Investment Committee.
• Manage the full investment lifecycle
  , from origination through execution, asset optimization, and exit.

Origination & Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with solar developers, EPCs, technology providers, and corporate offtakers
  .
• Negotiate PPAs, lease structures, and joint ventures to secure high-quality C&I solar and storage opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for platform acquisitions, portfolio aggregation, and strategic partnerships
  .

Strategic Development

• Shape the long-term roadmap for C&I investments, including market entry, pricing, and scalability.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory frameworks, and technology developments in distributed energy.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align C&I investments with the firm’s ESG and energy transition strategy
  .
• Oversee the financial and operational performance of existing C&I solar investments.
• Manage asset optimization, refinancing, and exit planning to maximize investor returns.
• Work closely with technical and asset management teams to ensure compliance with performance and ESG KPIs
  .

Candidate Profile

Experience & Skills

• 10–15 years of experience in renewable energy investments, project finance, or infrastructure private equity
  , with a strong background in solar PV and distributed generation
  .
• Proven track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing transactions across multiple jurisdictions.
• Deep understanding of C&I solar PPA structures, lease-based models, and decentralized energy economics
  .
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing developer relationships and coordinating due diligence processes.
