Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Purpose
- Diagnose issues and work on various types of construction equipment and vehicles, including hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, gas and diesel engines.
- Cleaning, lubricating and conducting routine services on heavy‑duty and light‑duty vehicles and equipment
- Basic knowledge of fabrication and different types of welding
- Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness
- Maintain work logs, repairs and maintenance records
- Make recommendations to Fleet Manager for more detailed work
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Must have 10 years verifiable experience as a mobile mechanic
- Have extensive knowledge of maintenance, diagnosing of all classifications of construction equipment
- Knowledge of all systems within heavy and medium duty trucks, tractors, trailers and all DOT regulated equipment
- Willing to travel within South Texas frequently completing field repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections
- Make recommendations to Fleet Manager and Management for more detailed work
- Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Class B CDL
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with minimal infractions
- Willing and able to pass a physical examination
- Willing and able to pass drug and alcohol screenings
- Must be able to travel and work overtime, weekends, and nights as needed
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 50–100 lbs.)
- Exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes
- Exposure to prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling and climbing
