Tim Hortons Baker/Customer Service Associate Job Description

As one of the frontline positions for the company, this role is integral to the company’s success. The ideal fit for this position would be an energetic, outgoing, people-oriented candidate with strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment maintaining high level of customer focus. The primary purpose of a Baker/Customer Service Associate is to bake and prepare the multitude of delicious baked goods Tim Hortons is famous for: including donuts, bagels, muffins, cookies, pastries and a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

This individual also directly interacts with customers and delivers a fast, fun and friendly experience while maintaining a safe and clean environment. This position would entail coming to work early in the morning to prepare and bake food to start the day and throughout the morning; to then help with lunch and leave in the early afternoon. Typical shift is 3:30am to 1pm.

Reliability and Dependability is paramount for a person in this position.

Customer Service

Greets every customer in a quick and courteous manner. Provides a pleasant dining experience to all our customers and responds to customer inquiries in a timely fashion. Handles all customer complaints according to company policies and procedures. Develops and maintains product knowledge and provides customers with product recommendations.

Food Safety

Follows sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensures compliance with operational standards, company policies and ordinances. Sustains consistent high quality of food preparation and service. Keeps professional image by maintaining proper uniform and appearance standards.

Teamwork and Communication

Works effectively with others (individuals and departments) in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner. Helps other associates in their duties and assists new associates in learning their new job skills. Communicates any issues of concerns and ensures all internal matters are presented to GM in a timely manner.

Cash Handling

General knowledge of all point of sale equipment. Processes customer sales accurately and efficiently. Ensures cash drawer levels are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Stock Control

Receives and stocks all merchandise in accordance with company policy. Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds following proper lifting procedures. Ensures stock is faced up, clean and presentable at all times. Apply the FIFO (first in first out) system, when receiving or stocking any product. Ensures all damaged and/or out of date stock is removed, accurately recorded and placed in designated quarantine area.

Follows portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize loss.

Security & Loss Prevention

Maintains full control of the store and its contents at all times using prevention techniques as per company to minimize loss (i.e. drive offs or retail theft etc). Follows company policies and procedures for securing the premises upon end of day closure.

Cleanliness

Maintains a high standard of cleanliness. Cleans in accordance with the Liberty’s/brand specific sanitary standards including but not limited to: sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning walls, counters, tables, kitchen and service equipment. Cleans the customer service area by removing trash, cleaning restrooms and the parking lot.

Occupational Health & Safety

Performs all duties in a safe and responsible manner to assure workers, customers, suppliers/contractors and the environment are not plies with all company safety policies, procedures and instructions. Uses materials handling procedures and equipment provided to minimize contamination or injury. Reports to management any unsafe practice or condition and follows all Liberty safety initiatives.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Physically capable of standing for long hours.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English language.
  • Must pass background check.
