Database Administrator – Halifax

I am recruiting on behalf of a stable and growing company for someone who would like the opportunity to become their first dedicated SQL Server DBA.

This is a hands-on position where you will take full responsibility for the Microsoft SQL Server environment supporting multiple business‑critical systems.

Other responsibilities include:

Oversee data transformations and imports, including new client onboarding
Carry out direct production database updates with precision and strong risk awareness
Monitor performance, diagnose issues, and implement tuning improvements
Improve and evolve internal database tools and processes
Champion data integrity, resilience, and security
Identify opportunities to introduce automation and AI‑driven efficiencies within the DBA function

We are looking for someone with:

Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+)
Confidence working in live production environments
Proactive, detail‑focused, and risk‑aware
Clear communicator able to work across technical and operational teams
