Job Summary
We are looking for two exceptional candidates who can work with internal and external clients to assess the transport and highways elements of proposed developments and support economic growth in Calderdale. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Highways and Engineering service to look for opportunities to maximise the benefits of our own programmes of work. You will work within a supportive environment and report directly to the Transportation and Highways Development Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advice on the implications of proposed development in terms of compliance with local, regional and national policies and plans to ensure integration of land use and transport planning, and ensure that sustainable and maintainable solutions are developed.
- Identify opportunities for Section 38, 106 and 278 agreements and secure commuted sums in accordance with the Council's commuted sums policy.
- Occasionally represent the Council at Planning Committee and Planning Appeals, drafting relevant statements and evidence to required timescales and quality.
- Visit sites, attend site meetings, and hold a full driving licence.
- Appreciate traffic modelling programmes.
- Excellent management, communication and negotiation skills.
- Desirable experience of public speaking in a challenging environment and working with elected members, and experience in Highway Development Control.
- Willingness to train if some skills are lacking.
