The Opportunity:

Stewart McKelvey’s Associate Lawyer team is growing! We are currently recruiting for an Estates & Trusts Lawyer to join us in our Halifax office. Stewart McKelvey is the only STEP Employer Partner accredited law firm in Atlantic Canada.

Our Estates & Trusts team acts for individuals, owner-managed and family businesses, trust companies, financial institutions and charitable entities on a wide range of estates and trust matters. Our team works in tandem with clients and other professional advisors to ensure a multi-disciplinary response to their needs.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years’ Estates and Trust Law experience (estate/trust planning and estate/trust administration) in the following areas:

Estate and tax planning

Estate administration and litigation

Asset protection

Charities and not-for-profit entities

Cross-border and international estate and trust planning

In addition, the ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal and communication skills. A TEP designation from STEP Canada would be considered an asset.

This is a partnership track role and, as such, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in client development, firm and community events, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Candidates must be a member in good standing with a Canadian Law Society and should provide a resume and cover letter by  January 6, 2026  detailing relevant practice experience in order to apply.
