About the Opportunity
Research participants in our projects include patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and healthcare leaders. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a growing research team and be involved in all facets of research and administrative coordination including grant applications, protocol development and registration, ethics submissions, data collection, analysis, and dissemination. This position is particularly suited to a well-organized individual able to task-switch, while maintaining exquisite attention to detail who enjoys both coordinating and conducting research.
This is a full-time 1-year position with possible extension, in a hybrid work environment.
The Research Associate contributes to a program of embedded research that is set within the Nova Scotia Health Cancer Care Program (NSH CCP). The NSH CCP is responsible for delivering safe, equitable and sustainable cancer care services to adult Nova Scotians and is responsible for the full continuum of cancer care from prevention, early detection to screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, palliative care and end of life care.
The Research Associate will be part of a research team and assist the Principal Investigator with study administration and conduct. Responsibilities will include managing REB submissions, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, literature reviews (screening, extracting and summarizing articles), drafting reports, preparing project summaries and manuscripts. Experience developing study protocols and REB applications, liaising with multi-site /multi-disciplinary teams, knowledge translation or community/stakeholder engagement would be assets.
An interest in and understanding of learning health system principles would also be an asset. Candidate must be a demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
About You

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a health sciences or social sciences discipline (e.g., psychology, epidemiology, community/public health) required
- Minimum of two years research experience required
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, email and internet
- Familiarity with qualitative/quantitative analysis software package such as NVivo, SAS, R an asset
- Familiarly with reference manager program (Zotero) an asset
- Familiarity with health research
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
