Summary
The Manager of Finance manages the credit team and responsibility for the Atlantic and Western regions of Graybar Canada. This position holds the accountability to evaluate risk and make credit decisions on behalf of the company.

Responsibilities

Manage the Credit department for the Graybar Canada Atlantic division.

Compose concise and comprehensive correspondence, reports, and related material.

Maintain accurate risk ratings for all approved transactions.

Initiate customer relationships to secure past due payments or initiate payment arrangements of outstanding invoices to reach Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets.

Identify, monitor and resolve problems affecting the non-payment of invoices while developing positive customer relations and communications.

Perform reference and credit reviews on new customers.

Communicate credit standards and clearly convey the rationale for decisions.

Provide assistance and guidance to Sales Representatives on the documentation and structural aspects of accounts.

Maintain high degree of knowledge of commercial credit products, lease/loan structures, credit facilities, and underwriting.

Maintain job files, monitor lien and bond claim rights and ensure rights are not missed by complying with Provincial statutes.

Maintain a clear understanding of Policy, Procedure, and Controls as they relate to credit adjudication.

Perform personnel activities; performance management, coaching, training, hiring and terminations.

Analyze financial statements and associated financial information from customers to determine risk associated with granting credit and assigning of credit limits.

Desired Skills & Experience

Undergraduate Degree in Finance (or a related discipline)

Expert knowledge of credit analysis, risk management process and industry lending practices. Commercial Banking background would be a definite asset.

Excellent financial statement analysis skills.

Must have a thorough understanding and be capable of negotiating (if applicable) security vehicles available from corporate and commercial customers (such as guarantees, project assignments and other related security applications to our industry).

Good understanding of commercial laws related to the construction industry.

Prior hands‑on experience in Credit & Collections, with 5‑10 years of management experience in both Commercial and Residential markets.

In‑depth knowledge of operational processes, technology and people management techniques.

Proven experience in conflict resolution skills and effective negotiating skills.

Strong management, reporting, prioritization and follow‑up skills.

FCI or other recognized credit training an asset.

Strong computer software skills (word and excel), combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

Travel may be required.

Ability to attend and conduct presentations.

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
