Our client, a growing professional services organization operating at the intersection of legal and corporate services, is seeking an experienced
Senior Financial Services Officer / Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance team in Halifax, NS on a 4–4.5 month contract
.
This role will provide critical support during a peak operational period, including T4 processing, fiscal year-end, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will be hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable stepping into a fast-paced environment where collaboration and accuracy are key.
Benefits & Perks
- Contract length:4–4.5 months (Target start: March)
- Compensation:$65,000–$75,000 annualized (approximately$35/hour
) - Hybrid work environment (in Halifax, Nova Scotia
) - Standard hours:8:30am–4:30pm

- Exposure to a complex, multi-location organization experiencing ongoing growth
Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare month-end financial statements
- Manage accounts payable
, including invoice processing and payments - Serve as the primary banking contact
, including:- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Cash flow management and overdraft avoidance
- Ensuring service offices are adequately funded
- Prepare and submit HST rebates
- Support year-end financial reporting and tax form preparation
- Perform trust accounting
- Provide backup payroll support
as needed - Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Partner closely with the
CFO
on day-to-day financial operations - Work within
Sage
, a case management system, and Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- Experience in professional services or legal environments is an asset but not required
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — this is a high-touch role with frequent internal and external interaction
- Hands-on, adaptable, and collaborative with an “all hands on deck” mindset
