Project XIII Staffing has partnered with a leading general contracting firm. Our partner is seeking an experienced Controller to join their leadership team and oversee the company’s financial operations during an exciting period of growth.
The location for this role is GTA based travel with expectation in office.
About the OpportunityWe are seeking a Controller to manage the full accounting cycle and provide strategic financial oversight across all areas of the business. This role will report directly to the leadership team and play a key part in supporting operational decisions, maintaining financial integrity, and helping guide the company’s continued expansion.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, proven leadership skills, and a practical understanding of construction or project-based financial environments.
What You Will Do- Oversee full-cycle accounting including month‑end, year‑end, and financial statement preparation
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow processes
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Support the company’s transition from Quick Books to Sage (experience with either is an asset)
- Partner with project and operations teams to analyze project costs, profitability, and performance
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies as required
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to the leadership team
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
- CPA designation (or working toward one) preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
- Experience in construction, real estate development, or related industries preferred
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP, budgeting, cash flow management)
- Proficient in Quick Books and/or Sage; ERP transition experience considered an asset
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities

Salary Range$100,000 – $120,000 based on experience
