Job Description

The Global Payment Services (GPS) team is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all payments across MUFG Investor Services globally. With a presence in Kuala Lumpur, Limassol, Dublin, Halifax, and Toronto, the team collaborates to deliver a seamless payments experience to clients and internal stakeholders.

As a Senior Associate Director
, you will play a critical leadership role within GPS, working closely with the Director, GPS, and partnering with stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives and ensure operational excellence while contributing to global initiatives. This position offers senior leadership exposure, with responsibilities spanning global projects, process optimization, technology adoption, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Manage and lead a growing team of payment operations professionals, providing coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Support the formulation and execution of department strategy, partnering with stakeholders, contributing to the success of the global GPS team.
  • Drive a culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Represent the local team on global projects and co-lead workstreams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Own migration projects and assist as required to ensure smooth execution in line with the global roadmap.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively mentor emerging leaders within GPS to build a strong succession pipeline.
  • Functional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for payment operations lifecycle, including capture, processing/settlement, and investigations.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, regulatory and market requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for critical issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication to senior stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients, investment managers, and internal teams (Treasury, Banking Operations, Client Operations) to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure robust risk management frameworks are in place.
  • Strategic & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate on global initiatives such as payment system upgrades, process improvements, new product launches, and cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing payment processing and client experience.
  • Champion technology adoption and automation initiatives to enhance STP rates and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and strengthen risk controls in payment processes.
  • Ensure procedures remain current and compliant with firm standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies.
  • Leverage data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to streamline the operating model.
  • Define and monitor KPIs to measure operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to resource planning and budgeting for GPS operations to ensure scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of payment processing experience, preferably within a global banking environment.
  • 7+ years of people management experience with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
