As an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) on our Build Strategy team, you’ll help shape the blueprint for how Canada’s next generation of naval ships comes together.
In this role, you’ll dive into developing, maintaining, and continuously advancing the Build Strategy—the roadmap that guides our approach to constructing and repairing world‑class vessels at Irving Shipbuilding. Your work will directly influence how teams across the organization make decisions, solve challenges, and drive efficiency.

The Build Strategy is a cornerstone of our shipbuilding program, aligning internal functions, subcontractors, and customers with a clear vision and evidence‑based plan. You’ll play a key part in refining the analyses, data, and strategic insights that keep our production teams moving with purpose and precision.

If you’re eager to learn, ready to tackle complex challenges, and excited about contributing to Canada’s largest shipbuilding project, this is where your engineering career takes off.

0 to 4 years of work experience.

Fundamental understanding of design for build principles.

Strong technical writing skills, able to author, manage and maintain documentation.

Strong knowledge of Data Analysis and Capture.

Demonstrated capability to analyze engineering data and understand how to translate it into a production context.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.

Responsibilities

Investigate and resolve potential issues to construction.

Perform capacity planning using simulation software for key work centers.

Document all required aspects of the Build Strategy.

Produce and contribute to the creation of the Build Schedule.

Collaborate with multiple ISI functional teams to improve and prepare Shipyard processes for production.

Review engineering documentation for application and requirements for Build.
