This role is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial-minded Senior Electrical Engineer who is eager to help shape and grow a practice, not just contribute to it. What You’ll Be Doing Lead and inspire a team of early-career and experienced professionals, with a strong focus on mentorship, knowledge sharing, and developing the next generation of engineers.
Build and sustain a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Prepare and review technical deliverables that support effective project planning, scheduling, and budget control.
Lead the development of concept designs, including load calculations, schematics, equipment selection, and system design reports.
Provide oversight and technical leadership to a talented team of electrical professionals, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, well-coordinated designs.
Review, approve, and execute electrical designs and layouts in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.
Review electrical technical documentation , including drawings, specifications, datasheets, and reports, to ensure accuracy, constructability, and quality.
Participate in project meetings and coordinate closely with internal teams, architects, and external consultants across multiple disciplines.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and design intent.
Coordinate effectively with internal disciplines and external partners, including consultants, architects, and contractors.
Perform technical reviews and provide sound recommendations on engineering designs and reports.
Promote and uphold ethical, professional, and regulatory standards in all aspects of electrical engineering work.
Complete quality assurance and quality control audits to ensure designs meet company standards and best practices.
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, architects, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior staff members.
Support business development initiatives and contribute to the maintenance and growth of long-term client relationships.
What we are looking for The ideal candidate is a seasoned Electrical Engineer with post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, and holds a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in the Province of Nova Scotia. You bring consulting-industry experience, including engineering design coordination and multi-disciplinary project management, and possess a comprehensive understanding of current engineering principles, Canadian engineering standards, and project management best practices.
Comfortable conducting site visits and working in tools such as REVIT, you are able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership. Highly analytical and detail-oriented, you exercise sound, independent judgment, excel at problem solving, and remain resilient in fast-paced or ambiguous environments. You are client-focused, results-driven, and committed to continuous learning, with exceptional communication, time management, and organizational skills.
