Duties
Rates of Pay:

Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-03 $ 41.01 to $45.96 per hour

Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-04 $ 43.50 to $48.58 per hour

Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-05 $ 46.32 to $51.68 per hour

Senior Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-06 $ 48.64 to $53.89 per hour

Senior Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-07 $ 50.48 to $55.97 per hour

Senior Engineering Officer: SO-MAO-08 $ 53.10 to $58.88 per hour

Key Activities:

Supervise and manage engine room personnel, financial resources and materiel.

Plan and direct operations, maintenance and repair of propulsion, electrical, auxiliary, deck machinery, hotel equipment and miscellaneous systems.

Provide technical advice and support to vessel client personnel.

Participate in shipboard emergency and safety drills such as firefighting, abandoning ship, man‑over‑board, damage control, search and rescue.

Manage, direct and participate in the watch‑keeping system.

Compile, recommend and manage refit specifications, vessel additions, alterations and other contract repair work.

Provide support to ensure the Canadian Coast Guard meets its mandate.

Who You Are

Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency – 4th Class marine engineering certificate or higher.

Experience managing shipboard personnel, operations and refits.

Commitment to safety, security and service.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage a diverse team.

Ability to mentor others using knowledge and skills.

Pride in the engine room and machinery condition.

Qualifications

STCW 4th/3rd/2nd Class marine engineering certificate (depending on level).

Experience in refit and dry‑dock operations.

Experience supervising/managing staff.

Experience in marine engineering shore‑based positions or Senior Day‑working Engineer.

Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance practices.

Language Requirements
English essential. Bilingual imperative if indicated.
