The School of Health Administration in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Health invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time one-year limited term faculty position at the Instructor rank.

Dalhousie University is comprised of 6,000 faculty and staff amongst its 13 faculties. Current enrollment is 18,500 graduate and undergraduate students. As part of Canada’s U15 research-intensive group, Dalhousie University is an influential driver of the region’s intellectual, social and economic development. The Faculty of Health’s faculty, staff and students are committed to improving the well-being of individuals, families, communities and populations through diverse health programming, collaborative research and strong community partnerships. The Faculty of Health is one of the largest faculties at Dalhousie, comprised of eight schools, one college and one program, more than 200 faculty members, 80 staff members, and approximately 3,000 students.

With the most programmatically diverse health faculty in Canada, our students are exposed to a broad range of health topics and learning experiences. The School of Health Administration’s vision is to model transformative leadership to strengthen health systems.

The successful candidate will be required to teach both in-person and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as mentor students. The teaching assignments will include teaching in the core courses of the MHA program and the undergraduate programs within the needs of the School. The candidate is expected to become an active and engaged member of the School, Faculty and University.

Activities at local, national, and international levels are expected to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning re is no expectation of a research workload associated with this position.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) or Masters in a related discipline. A PhD in a related discipline is preferred. Demonstrated passion for learning and teaching along with proficiency with online teaching is required, as is expertise with at least one Learning Management System Bright Space). Effective oral and written communication skills are required. A health leadership qualification, such as Certified Health Executive (CHE) or Lean Six Sigma, is an asset.

Work or volunteer experience, at a senior level within a minimum of one health sector organization or health system, is an asset. Demonstrated expertise in health administration, with an ability to teach courses in statistics, ethics, health outcomes and epidemiology and population health would be an asset. Teaching experience at the postsecondary level and evidence of teaching excellence is an asset.
