The OpportunityThis position supports the eastern territory within Ontario. Travel and networking events are required, and may happen outside of standard business hours.
This position promotes value to external and internal stakeholders through development of the distribution force of the company. Serving as a communication link between the distribution force and the company, the BDM acts as an information conduit, building relationships through face‑to‑face meetings, training, email, telephone, marketing, and co‑op advertising initiatives. The BDM will act as a key contributor in all business development related activities to support the distribution of the company’s products and services to expand the business and achieve the company’s strategic growth and profitability objectives.

- Collaborate with Underwriting, Distribution and the Business Innovation team in the review of products and marketing of new product lines
- Analysis of broker reports, underwriting results, financial/CPC statements and loss runs to demonstrate the ability to fully interpret the data within
- Analyze and compare company and individual broker results on a frequent basis and provide proposed necessary action plans to improve such results to the Underwriting & Distribution Director
- Participate, provide input in and develop action plans to achieve profitable growth targets with the company’s distribution force
- Take part in business planning and segmentation initiatives
- Actively prospect and contract with new distribution partnerships as defined within the company’s territory
- Continuously pursue new revenue streams (e.g., portfolio skims, agent channel growth) with distribution force
- Participate and provide input in annual broker review
- Examine and understand wordings, coverages, exclusions, and underwriting guidelines to provide recommendations to the Business Innovation team for changes based on distribution force and industry feedback
- Make recommendations for new products and enhancement of existing products based on competitive intelligence obtained from the field
- Participate and support marketing strategies to promote profitable growth and brand awareness
- Support implementation of marketing campaigns
- Collaborate with Underwriting & Distribution and Brand & Communications to maintain inventory of marketing material; company giveaways, draw prizes and company promotional material
- Collaborate with Underwriting & Distribution and Marketing & Communications in development of broker advertising in local media
