Field Services Representative

The Guide Dog Foundation and America’s Vet Dogs have a unique remote employment opportunity for a Field Services Representative within the contiguous United States. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven GDMI to join our Graduate Support Team in supporting individuals who seek enhanced mobility and independence to enable them to live without boundaries.

• GDF/AVD Graduates: Responsible for managing and providing service to graduates through virtual and in-person assistance throughout the United States, including travel within their home area.
• GDF/AVD Applicants: Responsible for managing and providing assessments of applicants based on GDF/AVD criteria for admission. Responsible for performing home training placements of assistance dogs and students.
• Other: Promote GDF/AVD through agencies for the visually impaired, VI professionals and agencies that service US Military Veterans and First Responders. Participates in the class program or home placements as needed.
• As an Ambassador, the individual will represent GDF/AVD and support fundraising and marketing initiatives in the assigned region.

• Must have achieved certification in training guide dogs and instructing students (has worked three or more years in training guide dog teams).
• Show flexibility with work hours and be willing to undertake significant overnight travel - up to 50% of the time.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and work with others to solve complex issues.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a remote team environment.
• Ability to communicate via voicemail and e-mail. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must safely handle a variety of large breed dogs, weighing up to 85 pounds with varying strength and manageability. Able to pick up a 70-85 pound dog in an emergency. Able to withstand repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.

Near acuity and accommodation are required for the ability to see and read a dog’s reaction to the environment and distractions, ability to watch the student give commands, ability to read forms, documentation, and computer screen.

Ability to interact with dogs, trainers, students, and volunteers either in an informal way or by giving formal instruction through seminars and training exercises. Ability to hear above traffic and other outside noises.

$60,000 - $75,000 per year. The anticipated starting salary will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
