Overview

Resource Nurse — RN or LPN (RN preferred)
• Full Time - Salaried Position - 40 Hours per week

Mon day – Friday 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m. • $75,000 - $85,000/year

Summary
  • Provide the highest degree of quality nursing care to the residents following Coffmans policies and procedures.
  • As requested, supervise the day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
  • Monitor the CMAs and GNA assigned to the floor to ensure the residents receive quality care.
  • Perform duties as the Infection Control Nurse.
  • Perform duties as Wound Nurse.
  • Assist with Admissions.
  • Work as a floor nurse as needed.
  • Must take On-Call duties 1 week per month.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as Infection Control Nurse and handle necessary tracking and reporting.
  • Act as Wound Nurse and handle related doctor rounds and tracking and reporting.
  • Make rounds at the beginning and end of shift.
  • Perform Admission Assessments on new and re-admissions.
  • Consult with a residents physician in providing the residents care, treatment and rehabilitation as necessary.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by a resident immediately.
  • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Review each residents records for specific treatment, medication orders, diets, etc.
  • Review lab reports and notify physicians of results to determine appropriate follow-up.
  • Notify and provide an accurate assessment to the attending physician when a resident has an accident or incident or when there is a change in the residents condition.
  • Notify residents family and/or responsible party when a resident has an accident or incident or when there is a change in the residents condition.
  • Administer professional services such as medication administration, catheterization, tube feeding, suctioning, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, taking vital signs, transferring residents, feeding, toileting, etc. as required. Document the provision of services accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Obtain specimens for lab tests as ordered.
  • Monitor seriously ill residents as necessary.
  • Assess residents skin for signs of breakdown and take immediate action for treatment when indicated.
  • Institute and maintain preventative measures for skin breakdown.
  • Ensure residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate treatment (daily inspection of wounds turning and positioning, nutritional support and maintaining a clean/dry bed).
  • Ensure CMA and GNAs are providing direct care to residents in accordance with each residents care plan and wishes.
  • Meet with residents and/or family members as necessary.
  • Inform the family member of the death of a resident; contact the funeral home when requested by the family; follow policy for postmortem care.
  • Medication Administration: prepare and administer medications as ordered; document acceptance/refusal; monitor interactions and adverse reactions; verify resident identity; maintain supply of medications and tidy medicine cart; order medications, supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Treatment Administration: perform and document treatment-related tasks (dressing changes, wound assessment, tube feedings, catheterizations, oxygen administration, colostomy care, etc.).
  • Charting & Documentation: complete required electronic documentation for admissions, transfers, discharges, orders, progress notes, accidents, incidents, and changes of condition; ensure continuity of care through accurate charting.
  • Administrative Functions: participate in on-call duties; participate in performance evaluations and professional development; ensure privacy and security of information; follow safety and infection control policies.
