• CMA PAY RANGE: $19.00 – $23.00
• LPN PAY RANGE: $28.00 – $35.00
The primary purpose of a Certified Medication Aide is to assist in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the Nurse Supervisor or the Charge Nurse and the Director of Nursing. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of Fahrney-Keedy, and the requirements of the State.
DELEGATIONOF AUTHORITY
As a Certified Medication Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibilities, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
EMPLOYMENT AT WILLEmployment with Fahrney-Keedy is “at will.” Either the associate or Fahrney-Keedy may terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time without notice, regardless of the length of employment or the granting of benefits of any kind, including but not limited to benefits which provide for vesting based on length of service.

Essential functions of this position:
Accurate and safe preparation, administration, and documentation of oral and topical medications. Verification of medication identities, labeling, charting, and error reporting. Vital sign measurement and reporting. Assistance with medication charting and participation in resident comprehensive assessment. Maintenance of a friendly, productive working relationship with other department members and facility staff. Compliance with safety and infection control protocols. Reporting of resident rights and confidentiality of resident information.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications as ordered by the attending physician.
- Verify medication identities and ensure proper labeling and charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
- Follow facility procedures for drug receipt errors, medication disposal, and medication charting practices.
- Assist with medication charting and report medication errors promptly to Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing.
- Observe medication ingestion or application, record refusals, and notify nursing staff of errors or reactions.
- Measure, record, and report vital signs of residents accurately.
- Ensure all medication orders are written, signed, dated by an attending licensed physician, and recorded in the resident’s clinical record.
- Verify resident identity before medication administration and monitor self‑administering medication compliance.
- Maintain a friendly, productive relationship with other staff and participate in facility surveys and inspections as required.
- Obey safety precautions, report hazardous conditions, and use appropriate handwashing and hand sanitizer.
- Follow isolation precautions, use safety equipment, and report defective equipment to the Director of Nursing.
- Attend annual in‑service training programs as scheduled.
