• Pay or shift range: $34.75 USD to $53.50 USD. The posted range is the budgeted amount for this position. The actual rate of pay will be determined based on several factors, including your relevant experience, education, skills, internal equity, and alignment with Meritus Health’s compensation practices.

The SWAT (Skilled Workforce Adaptable Team) RN is an expert clinical nurse who serves as a critical resource across Meritus Medical Center’s inpatient units. As part of our hospital-wide rapid response and support team, SWAT RNs provide high-level, flexible, and responsive nursing care wherever it’s needed most.

This role is ideal for nurses who are confident in their clinical skills, enjoy variety, and excel in fast-paced, high-acuity settings. SWAT RNs are integral in supporting unit staff during surges, responding to patient emergencies, and ensuring continuity of care across the organization.

• Float among various units—including critical care, medical-surgical, step-down, and emergency areas—to provide immediate and expert clinical support.
• Respond to rapid responses, codes, and urgent patient care situations in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for diverse patient populations.
• Assist with complex admissions, discharges, and transfers to maintain safe staffing and efficient patient flow.
• Serve as a mentor and resource to staff nurses, promoting clinical excellence and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality/safety standards.

• Education – ASN required. BSN preferred.
• Experience – A minimum of 3‑5 years as an RN in an acute care setting required, with at least 2 years in Critical Care, Emergency Room, or equivalent experience.
• Licensure/Certification – Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or a compact state with Maryland recognition. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. Additional competencies (Basic Dysrhythmia, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, NIH certification, Violence Prevention or CSI training, IO insertion, pediatric sedation) required within specified time frames.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Strong teamwork, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, communication skills, professionalism, compassion, empathy, and basic computer skills.
