About the Role
As a Structural Technician IV, you will leverage your expertise to assemble and fabricate major structural assemblies and perform minor part-fitting operations. This includes tasks such as filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming. You will interpret blueprints, ensure precision in layout and drilling, and use calibrated tools to verify dimensions.
You will also modify assemblies, incorporate changes, monitor quality standards, and collaborate with team members, quality control, and engineering to ensure compliance and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble and fabricate structural assemblies per technical drawings and specifications.
- Perform precision drilling, countersinking, and layout using calibrated tools.
- Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures.
- Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
- Modify incomplete or complete assemblies and incorporate changes.
- Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control or other procedures.
- Perform maintenance duties and ensure effective communication across teams.
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions; strong dexterity required.
- Hearing: ability to discern tones and volumes.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Exposure to outdoor elements, loud noises, and occasional hazardous materials.
- Responsible for safety/security of people or property.
- Inspects structures, equipment, or vehicles.
- Performs aviation-related duties and operates heavy/dangerous equipment.
- Must own tools in good working order.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Advanced experience in structural assembly and minor part fitting techniques.
- Skilled in installing fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
- Ability to travel.
- Aerospace/Defense industry background (DoD, NASA, US Military).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
- High school diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
