• Advanced Practice Provider responsibilities: Deliver high-quality medical care, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for individuals with a variety of health concerns. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care, patient advocacy, and adherence to regulatory standards within the facility.
• Adheres to the Advanced Practice Provider Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreement.
• Work as part of an integrated health care team to provide acute, emergent, and chronic health care to patients in compliance with policy and guidance and accreditation standards.
• Perform comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral health care, and minor outpatient surgical procedures for detainees as required by the medical condition.
• Demonstrate appropriate application of clinical knowledge within documented treatment plans, prescriptions, and provide treatment throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.
• Demonstrate appropriate application of clinical knowledge within documented lab diagnostic ordering and interpretation, medication prescribing practices, referrals to consultants, follow-up after hospitalization or consultation.
• Participate in and comply with court ordered treatment plans to include evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric illness or life-threatening conditions including hunger strike.
• Provide full spectrum of age and gender specific health care to include treatment of gender dysphoria and pregnancy.
• Consult with staff physician, clinical director, and consultants as required by policy and for complex medical and/or psychiatric patients.
• Provide infirmary care including admission, discharge, and daily rounds for patients that require higher level of care and monitoring.
• Coordinate health care needs of patients including referrals to off-site consultants.
• Interpret Tuberculin skin tests and diagnostic studies, manage Direct Observation Therapy for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis.
• Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance.
• Adhere to universal precautions and properly dispose of all sharps and infectious waste.
• Provide relevant patient health education to detainees verbally and/or with handouts.
• Assist with preparation for accreditation and ongoing compliance with standards as assigned.
• Participate in all required credentialing and peer review processes as required.
• Facilitate and mentor APP onboarding and training.
