Overview
Job Summary We are seeking a dependable Trash Collector to support our Environmental Services team. This role is responsible for removing and transporting regular waste, regulated medical waste, cardboard, and recycling materials throughout the facility to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows safety procedures, and provides excellent customer service while working in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities- Remove trash, cardboard, and recycling materials from designated areas on a scheduled basis
- Collect and transport infectious and regulated medical waste according to departmental procedures
- Ensure waste totes and trailers remain locked and secure
- Assist with room setups and teardowns as needed
- Maintain clean, neat, and organized work areas
- Clean and sanitize trash trucks, carts, and designated areas
- Load regulated medical waste trailers with full waste totes
- Provide courteous and professional interaction with staff and visitors
- Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred - Experience:
One (1) year of housekeeping or similar experience preferred - Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of waste collection equipment and procedures
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift up to and over 50 lbs.
- Exposure to:
- Blood and body fluids
- Hazardous chemicals
- Temperature fluctuations
- Waste materials
- Requires attention to detail, task focus, and communication skills
