Summary Mount Indie is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support special mission aircraft programs in Hagerstown, MD. This role plays a critical part in the development, integration, and production of next-generation Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms. The ideal candidate will work across multidisciplinary teams to ensure avionics and aircraft electrical systems are designed for manufacturability, efficiently integrated, and produced to the highest quality standards.
This position supports aircraft modification efforts and full lifecycle manufacturing activities within a mission-driven aerospace environment. Responsibilities
* Collaborate with program management, design engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to optimize manufacturability and cost efficiency
* Review engineering designs for producibility and compliance with industry standards
* Develop tooling, fixtures, work instructions, travelers, and production processes for avionics assembly and system integration
* Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 for avionics components and assemblies
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and aircraft blueprints
* Support hands-on avionics wiring installation, troubleshooting, and repair efforts
* Oversee avionics system integration activities from design through production implementation
* Apply manufacturing best practices and technologies throughout the product lifecycle
* Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support resolution of avionics-related non-conformances
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
* Typically 6+ years of experience supporting avionics or aircraft electrical systems (advanced education may substitute for experience)
* Experience developing work instructions/travelers for avionics assembly and wiring
* Proficiency interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and aircraft drawings
* Hands-on experience with wiring installation, connector assembly, and aircraft electrical troubleshooting
* Familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
* Experience working with PLM, MES, and/or MRP systems
* Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
* Aerospace and Defense industry experience
* Background in avionics integration or aircraft modification programs
* Experience with communications, navigation, or flight control system modifications
* Participation in MRB activities related to avionics hardware or installations
* Experience supporting new avionics product introduction and transition to production
* End-to-end aircraft modification support from concept through implementation
