Manufacturing Engineer III (Avionics & Platform Integration)

Pay Rate: $51.00/hr
Role OverviewOur client is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer III to join a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of pioneering next-generation Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms. In this role, you will be instrumental in the development and enhancement of special mission aircraft, ensuring they meet stringent requirements and unique client needs.
You will act as a bridge between design and production, overseeing the entire lifecycle from concept through implementation. This includes developing tooling, work instructions, and production processes for advanced mission payloads and highly integrated aircraft systems.
Key Responsibilities- Design for Producibility: Review engineering designs for manufacturability and consult with program management, design engineers, and quality assurance to ensure efficient, cost-effective production.
- Process Development: Create and oversee the implementation of work instructions/travelers, production procedures, and the development of specialized tooling and fixtures.
- Lifecycle Management: Apply manufacturing technologies and industry best practices throughout the product lifecycle to ensure high performance and quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with shop floor personnel and avionics technicians to support aircraft modification projects from concept to final deployment.
- Continuous Improvement: Research, test, and improve cutting-edge products ranging from electronic systems to complex airframes.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Typically 6+ years of relevant experience in avionics or aircraft electrical systems (Higher education may substitute for years of experience).
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints for aircraft systems.
- Hands-on
Skills:
Experience with wiring installation, troubleshooting, repair, and the installation of connectors and wire harnesses. - Standards: Familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), specifically as it applies to avionics components.
- Systems Knowledge: Exposure to PLM, MES, and MRP systems with an emphasis on avionics-related data.
- Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
- Direct background in the Aerospace & Defense industry, specifically avionics integration.
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of non-conformances.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) within a production environment.
- Experience in aircraft modification programs (Communications, Navigation, Flight Control).
