Description
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the supervision, operation, evaluation, and planning of the educational programs in the Nursing division. This includes the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and the Certificate in Practical Nursing.
- The Director of Nursing reports directly and is responsible to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services.
- This position involves directly supervising and evaluating full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as administrative staff, who support the educational programs of the Nursing Division.
- Administers the educational programs of the Nursing Division.
- Serves as the administrator for the Nursing degree program and the certificate.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates division programs and their associated courses.
- Develops strategic plan for division programs in collaboration with the faculty.
- Establishes annual goals and objectives for the division in collaboration with the faculty.
- Ensures compliancy with regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Provides supervision of all personnel within the division.
- Prepares, allocates, and monitors the annual divisional budget.
- Coordinates programs with other areas of the College.
- Participates in the hiring process of new faculty members.
- Acts as a liaison for the Nursing Division with other College divisions, the community, and local, state and federal agencies.
- Serves as a consultant to the Dean of Workforce Solutions & Continuing Education in the process of planning and delivering continuing education courses in the nursing field.
- Works with the Dean of Instruction and Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology to support instruction in the Nursing programs.
- Works with the Enrollment Services and divisional faculty in the selection and admission of students into the Nursing programs.
- Apply to serves as a Peer Evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Evaluation Review Panel, contributing to program evaluation and accreditation processes.
Masters degree in nursing or the willingness to work towards a degree if hired (doctorate preferred);
Minimum of five years of leadership and supervisory experience required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. Strong management and organizational skills; advising/counseling skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administrators.
