Summary Statement
The Adjunct Instructor for the Massage Therapy Program provides high-quality instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings within Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education. This role focuses on teaching, mentoring, and preparing students for success in the field of massage therapy, including readiness for Maryland State Licensure examinations. The instructor ensures that course delivery aligns with the standards of the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) and the Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners.
OrganizationalRelationships
Reports directly to WSCE Allied Health program manager and works closely with the Massage Therapy Program coordinator and other program staff to support student learning and program success.
Essential Duties- Teach assigned massage therapy courses in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to promote student engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Maintain scheduled availability for student support, including office hours or equivalent.
- Maintain appropriate area of Allied Health Certification and remain current in other related Allied Health disciplines.
- Participate in curriculum development, course updates, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with program staff and faculty to ensure compliance with COMTA and Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of massage therapy practices, trends, and regulations.
- Support program operations by ensuring proper use of lab equipment and supplies.
- Attend faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Currently licensed or registered to practice massage therapy in Maryland, academically and professionally qualified, maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities, have an unencumbered license or registration for the past 5 years, and have a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a licensed massage therapist or registered massage practitioner. Teaching or educational work experience preferred.
Skills And Abilities- Proficiency with computer technology and instructional software, including Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with a student-centered approach.
- Ability to adapt to flexible schedules and perform instructional duties independently while meeting program standards.

- Skilled in curriculum development and the use of varied teaching strategies to support diverse learners.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.

This position provides classroom, lab, and clinical instruction, requires holding office hours to meet with students, staff, and administration, includes participation in professional development activities and events, and working hours will vary depending on course offerings.
