Food Service Worker​/Cashier; On Call

We are hiring immediately for an on‑call position located at Bergen County Technical Schools, 200 Hackensack Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601. Position requires no prior experience; training will be provided. Pay is fixed at $16.22 per hour.

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables. Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards. Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Store foods in designated areas, following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
• Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner.
• Relay relevant information to supervisor.
• Perform sales transactions and enter sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded.
• Make change, accept declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment.
• Issue receipts to customers.
• Follow standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Maintain responsible control of all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring compliance with overage/shortage standards.
• Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
