Certification Details
- The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements.
- Assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization and other radiologic guided procedures within the Breast Center.
- Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
- Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures including setup and cleanup.
- Assists in procedures using ultrasound guidance.
- Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.
- Identifies patient films correctly with name, x-ray number, side of patient, and initials all films.
- Develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.
- Completes patient requisitions with technologist’s initials, date number, and size of films.
- Assists with quality control procedures and documentation as delegated by Chief Mammography Technologist.
- Assists in breast self-exam instruction and other patient education including pre and post procedure instructions.
- Prepares cases to be imaged including chart and films.
- Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups, breast localizations, biopsies, and ultrasound examinations.
- Documents procedures regarding quality control and assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State and FDA.
- Documents pertinent patient information in the Breast Center chart.
- Modifies and delivers care specific to patient needs including age, culture, language, and disabilities.
- Communicates with patients, parents, and caregivers at appropriate developmental and educational levels.
- Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Job Details
- Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Must have ARRT certification.
- Must obtain mammography certification within the first three months of employment.
- Must have active Diagnostic Radiography License.
Job Requirements
- Works within the Breast Center performing mammography and related breast imaging procedures.
