At Hackensack Meridian Health, our team members are core to improving patients’ health and supporting one another. This role performs dispatch functions for the EMS department, coordinating requests and managing communications with requestors and EMS crews.

• Receive and process incoming and outgoing telephone and radio communications.
• Differentiates routine from priority messages and initiates appropriate responses.
• Maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA policies.
• Record all requests for service through handwritten and computer entries.
• Provide emergency medical call screening and pre-arrival instructions.
• Dispatch units through radio, telephone, or other equipment following established protocols.
• Coordinate outsourced requests and maintain records.
• Maintain status and location of all units and personnel.
• Manage resource requests for large-scale incidents.
• Communicate with county Office of Emergency Management and NJ EMS Task Force representatives.
• Document all relevant information between prehospital providers and receiving facilities.
• Maintain hospital diversion logs and provide notifications to stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot communications equipment problems and notify appropriate agency.
• Validate documentation following established protocols.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a health care setting or 1 year of dispatching law enforcement, fire department, or EMS services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office or Google Suite).

• Experience working with case managers and insurance providers.
• Knowledge of county geo-political boundaries, major highways, and landmarks.
• Understanding of radio broadcast procedures and FCC rules.
• Familiarity with computer-aided dispatch and radio frequencies.

• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Telecommunicator within 3 months of hire.
• Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch within 3 months of hire.
• ICS 100, IC 200, Hazardous Materials Awareness within 6 months of hire.

Minimum rate: $30.29 hourly.
