Brief Overview
Coordinates the transcription functions and efficiently transcribes medical reports as dictated by all cardiologists, neurologists and vascular doctors.
What You Will Do- Transcribes reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assists or edits transcribed diagnostic reports as per physicians.
- Transcribes recorded material and proofreads diagnostic reports on CRT screen.
- Verifies accuracy of information by identifying patient’s name, hospital assigned number, date of birth and exam accession number.
- Identifies and associates patient’s exam with dictation by doctor.
- Attempts to improve the quality of diagnostic reports and keeps errors to a minimum.
- Calls for maintenance and repair for equipment upon approval from supervisor.
- Displays competence in transcribing all physician interpretation of exams.
- Attempts to solve problems and refers unsolved problems to appropriate personnel.
- Possesses knowledge of medical terminology needed to comprehend physicians’ interpretation of exams.
- Assists in completion of exams in computer system to guarantee charge capture and transcription of report.
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of department.
- Pursues information necessary for completion of duties.
- Keeps open communication with physicians regarding dictation of reports so that any problems can be resolved.
- Recognize the role of medical transcriber in relation to overall function of total patient, care.
- Utilizes time in an effective manner.
- Adjusts personal schedule in case of fluctuations in workload of the department.
- Demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and deal with them promptly.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality.
- Complies with hospital dress codes by wearing and maintaining professional appearance.
- Demonstrates commitment to own work schedule by adhering to attendance standards.
- Reports any suggestions or positive changes to director.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical transcription experience required.
- Medical transcription experience with radiology preferred.
- Medical terminology, medical records systems, hospital policies and procedures.

Pay Range: $20.00/hour - $27.00/hour.
