Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform a range of technical MRI procedures under the guidance of a qualified physician. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the diagnosis of diseases in patients by providing accurate and efficient MRI services.
Essential Job Functions
• Prepare and execute MRI procedures in compliance with departmental standards, achieving a minimum accuracy rate of 99%.
• Schedule appropriate time slots for each patient and review requisitions to ensure proper scheduling throughout the shift.
• Prepare all opaque contrast media used in examinations with a 100% accuracy rate.
• Process images within 30 minutes of the completion of examinations.
• Translate physician orders for technical-surgical procedures into accurate radiographic procedures, maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of 99%.
• Maintain patient logs and records of equipment downtime.
• Collaborate closely with radiologists to develop imaging protocols that promote optimal imaging studies.
• Prepare reports and manage work activities as the charge technologist, distributing them to the supervisor.
• Prioritize and complete urgent and emergency studies as required.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment by adhering to safety and hygiene procedures to minimize risks and contamination.
• Maintain productivity levels within 20% of the FTE monthly average for the modality, barring low-volume shifts.
• Provide excellent customer service to enhance patient satisfaction scores for the department and medical center.
• Monitor inventory levels and supplies, notifying the supervisor of needs, achieving a minimum accuracy rate of 95%.
• Charge patient exams as necessary.
• Transport patients safely using the appropriate transportation devices to and from the department and designated areas.
• Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, reporting issues to senior technologists for supervision.
• Ensure that all charges are accurately recorded.
• Maintain a tidy work area to prevent unnecessary injuries to staff and patients.
• Assist patients and their families throughout their stay.
• Support colleagues by covering for any absentee employees within the MRI area.
• Participate in cross-training for other applicable areas.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed MRI Technologist.
• Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with patients.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology is required.
Required Certifications & Licensure
• New Jersey State MRI License is required.
• AART (MRI) certification is required.
Schedule Notes
This is a 13-week contract position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, along with every third weekend obligation (Saturday and Sunday). On-call duties are not required.
