Surgical Tech II - Center for Ambulatory Surgery - F/T Evenings
Hackensack Meridian Health is looking for a Level II Surgical Tech to assist the CAP Care Coordinator and CAP Educator in maintaining instrumentation during evenings (9 am‑7:30 pm & 10:30 pm‑9 pm CALL & FLEX). The role is full‑time with 24‑hour, 7‑day a week accountability.
Responsibilities- Assist Level III RN coordinator/educator with inventory, instrumentation, and in‑service education.
- Oversee orientation of new Surgical Tech I staff.
- Follow policy to standardize set‑ups, utilize surgeon preference, and ensure proper handling of instruments.
- Maintain counts of sponges, needles, instruments and administer/label medications per established protocol.
- Handle specimens according to O.R. policy and procedures.
- Control contamination and provide for decontamination, disinfection, sterilization and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
- Remove used equipment and dispose of contaminated needles and syringes at end of procedures.
- Participate in team conferences to plan care, evaluate effectiveness of patient care, and assist circulator in revising the plan of care.
- Maintain ST skills proficiency checklist by checking equipment and cases when rotating through specialty areas.
- Identify patient needs and deliver care specific to those needs, communicating at an appropriate developmental/age level.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training program.
- Proficient in at least two services (e.g., Neurology, Urology, Ortho) and able to precept in one.
- Minimum of two years experience as a surgical technologist.
Minimum hourly rate: $34.65. Pay is determined based on market data, experience, education, skills, location, internal equity, and budget. Eligible for shift differentials and performance‑based incentives. Full‑time benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement.
