Location &

Hours:

Hackensack, NJ – Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with rotational weekends

Pay Range: $30.01 – $49.50 per hour (eligible for annual performance bonus)

Responsibilities
  • Perform test procedures of moderate to high complexity, exercising independent judgment in specialty areas.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all testing areas and troubleshoot instrument and procedure issues.
  • Provide support in quality control, complex problem resolution, customer service, instrument maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
  • Perform and report analytical tests per SOP, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
  • Adhere to laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
  • Maintain turnaround times for results, including STAT or critical results.
  • Track reagent/test kit dates and perform QC analysis to ensure instrument accuracy.
  • Report deviations from standard procedures and cooperate with investigations.
  • Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists and assist in training other personnel.
  • Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Use personal protective equipment and other controls as directed.
  • Answer client and colleague questions, participate in inspections, and assume lead responsibilities when required.
Qualifications
  • One (1) year full‑time experience or training in high‑complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Preferred:
    Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in current department.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Lifting: 1–10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 36–50 lb seldom; >50 lb requires assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • Use of manual and automated pipettes and instruments demanding dexterity.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Comprehensive specialty knowledge and awareness of policies and procedures.
  • BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or qualified technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433.
  • Foreign‑educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF; U.S. candidates must provide transcript.
  • Proven leadership, problem‑solving, detail orientation, and multitasking abilities.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for client interactions.
  • Confidential handling of client information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
Education & Certification
  • BS in Medical Technology preferred; alternatively BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
License/Certificate
  • ASCP Certification (Preferred)
