About the Role

The Medical Records Specialist/Health Information Specialist is responsible for receiving, processing, and safeguarding patient health records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and medical privacy regulations. This role supports the secure, accessible, and usable data network that informs better health decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule:

    Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company policies and facility procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information.
  • Assist with additional duties as required, including training associates in the HIS I position.
  • Prepares new patient charts, gathers documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health records.
  • Ensures medical records are assembled in standard order, accurate, and complete.
  • Creates digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record.
  • Responds to requests for patient records both internally and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately.
  • Assists with patient walk‑ins, administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry.
  • Supports inbound/outbound calls regarding patient records.
Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of company and facility software.
  • Adherence to the Company’s Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Attention to detail for medical records and compliance with HIPAA standards.
