OverviewWe’re supporting a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in New Jersey with the hire of an experienced EHS Specialist
. This role sits on-site and plays a hands-on part in maintaining and developing environmental, health, and safety programs within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment.
You’ll work closely with engineering, facilities, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across site operations.
Key Responsibilities- Support and maintain site-wide EHS programs in line with regulatory and internal standards
- Identify, evaluate, and control health, safety, and environmental risks across manufacturing and facilities operations
- Conduct EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments within regulated environments
- Support incident investigations
, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation - Assist with development and delivery of EHS training for site personnel
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations
- Oversee and coordinate third-party vendors and contractors while on site
- Support hazardous waste management, biosafety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and fire protection activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for inspections, audits, and EHS programs
- Partner closely with engineering and facilities teams on equipment, shutdowns, and site projects
- Participate in shutdown planning, decommissioning, and site improvement initiatives
- Remain visible on the floor and act as a practical, solutions-focused EHS presence
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in an EHS role within pharma or biopharma manufacturing
- Direct experience working in regulated environments (cGMP strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
, hazardous materials, MSDS, and environmental compliance - Experience supporting inspections, investigations, and CAPA activities
- Comfortable working on-site in manufacturing and cleanroom environments (gowning required)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Calm, level-headed, and solutions-driven under pressure
- Confident working cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and quality
- Hands-on mindset — not a desk-only EHS profile
- Strong integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
