Job SummaryThe Senior Estimator will oversee day-to-day operations of the Estimating Department, preparing accurate and competitive bids for projects in core business lines and emerging markets. This role is critical to the company's success in heavy civil, underground utilities, trenchless rehabilitation, guide rail/sign structures, and more.
Essential Functions- Develop complete estimates for assigned opportunities.
- Create schedules to ensure timely completion of estimates.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
- Review construction plans and specifications to determine scope.
- Develop means and methods tailored to site conditions.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and direct Estimating Engineers for support.
- Solicit and review vendor/subcontractor quotes; ensure compliance.
- Prepare detailed work breakdown structures including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Present and review estimates with senior management.
- Submit finalized estimates by required deadlines.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
- 6-8 years of experience as an estimator with increasing responsibility.
- 8-10 years in field construction operations.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
- Familiarity with estimating software (B2W preferred; training provided).
- Knowledge of Bluebeam, Agtek, Primavera, and advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
