We are a purpose-driven natural incense brand seeking an experienced Herbal Incense Chemist / Fragrance Formulation Specialist with a deep interest in working exclusively with natural, plant-based ingredients. This role is ideal for someone who understands both the art and science of incense — from botanical raw materials to fragrance release, burn behavior, and fume chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate and refine all-natural herbal incense blends using woods, resins, flowers, herbs, gums, and essential oils

• Study and balance fragrance release during combustion, ensuring clean, non-irritating burn profiles

• Analyze smoke and fume chemistry to minimize harshness while preserving aromatic depth

• Evaluate burn characteristics: ignition, burn time, ash quality, stability, and consistency

• Develop formulations aligned with wellness, ritual, and mindful living applications

• Ensure formulations comply with safety, health, and regulatory standards (where applicable)

• Collaborate with product, sourcing, and branding teams to translate concept briefs into finished incense

• Document formulations, materials sourcing, and batch test results

• Assist in scaling artisanal formulations into small-batch production while maintaining quality

Required Qualifications:

• Education in Chemistry, Herbal Science, Natural Product Chemistry, Aromatherapy, or related field

• Hands-on experience in incense, fragrance, essential oil, or botanical formulation

• Strong understanding of combustion chemistry, aroma volatilization, and smoke behavior

• Familiarity with natural binders, powders, resins, gums, and essential oils

• Passion for natural, chemical-free, plant-based formulations

• Ability to experiment, iterate, and refine blends with precision and patience

• High attention to detail and documentation

Preferred Experience:

• Background in Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), perfumery, or ethnobotany

• Experience working with charcoal-free incense formulations

• Previous work in wellness, spiritual, or artisanal consumer products

• Knowledge of sustainability and ethical ingredient sourcing
