Leader In Training (Full‑Time)
Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader positions are focused on fulfilling Buckle’s mission of creating the shopping experience possible for our guests. LITs perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management, including cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures and routine facility cleaning. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates and provide day‑to‑day leadership.
ResponsibilitiesSales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service
- Answer questions about the store and merchandise
- Recommend, select and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience
- Demonstrate product using product knowledge and share sales education with teammates
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment policies, exchanges, and security practices
- Maintain personal sales-per‑hour and overall sales goals set by store management
- Provide legendary service throughout front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms and register area
- Know all exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals
- Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs
- Investigate and expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
- Build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business
- Lead by example with showmanship, excellent customer service and attentiveness
- Communicate guest levels with the team
- Ask business‑driven showmanship questions to manager, team leaders and teammates
- Coach and assist the manager in education and sales presentation
- Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the manager is present
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals and teammate recommend
- Develop skills and guide new teammates to meet daily Buckle accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention and sales presentation standards
- Keep a positive attitude and create a positive floor culture
- Model the dress code and coach teammates on fashion
- Participate in daily setup, training, impact and review while utilizing the Performance Tracker
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks
- Coach on denim showmanship and denim fit cards
- Develop results in your department and balance all DM actions while completing the mid‑week check‑in
- Demonstrate leadership actions during segment, including awareness of guests, engagement, vocal alignment, and responsible task allocation
- Own and influence product through zone ownership (product knowledge, placement, passion, preference)
- Follow the weekly checklist and lifecycle of product
- Track results and recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor
- Assist teammates in Visual Standards and weekly visual checklist execution
- Give informational store tours and ensure sales floor consistency
- Execute and demonstrate all new tools and videos related to zone ownership
- Show aptitude in recommending merchandising solutions to the store manager
- Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Complete opening and closing checklists and use the planner
- Identify and manage security risks and thefts, following loss prevention guidelines
- Conduct all point‑of‑sale procedures and handle corporate calls appropriately
- Handle returns and exchanges per Buckle guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, shoppable store
- Provide feedback to store manager and leadership regarding merchandise and policy concerns
- Communicate any policy violations or concerns to managers or HR confidentially
- Apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies, procedures, and handbooks
