Job Eligibility

United States citizens only—no sponsor ships available. Must present Journeyman’s card ocation assistance of $5,000 is provided. Green Card holders are also eligible.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Cut, shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes using power saws, shears, rules, and hand tools.
  • File, grind, shim, and adjust parts to properly fit together.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools.
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables using hoists, vises, v‑blocks, or angle plates.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining using protractors, micrometers, scribes, and rulers.
  • Select metals based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.
  • Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts.
  • Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes for assembly.
  • Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications.
  • Cast plastic tools or parts, or tungsten‑carbide cutting tips, using pre‑made molds.
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.
  • Develop and design new tools and dies using computer‑aided design software.
  • Set pyrometer controls of heat‑treating furnaces and feed or place parts, tools, or assemblies into furnaces to harden.
Skills & Competencies
  • Read tool and die designs and prints.
  • Perform shop math and trigonometry.
  • Use precise measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
  • Operate all standard tool room equipment and CNC machine set‑up.
  • Have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Know tool and die design and various tool steels/carbides and their applications.
  • Work independently and be self‑motivated.
  • Operate without supervision and lead small teams as required.
  • Work with appropriate outside vendors.
  • Train and develop apprentices.
  • Communicate well with others.
Safety, Health, Environmental (SH&E)
  • Manually operate tool room machinery.
  • Access tooling both in and out of machines to troubleshoot problems.
  • Support and comply with all procedures and work instructions.
  • Observe all safety regulations to ensure personal and others’ safety; maintain a hazard‑free work environment.
  • Cooperate with all local, state, and federal agencies such as OSHA or the EPA during inspections.
  • Follow all applicable SH&E policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent or trade school diploma program.
  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker license or completion of a 4‑year apprenticeship or advanced manufacturing certificate, followed by at least 4 years of on‑the‑job training.
  • Five years’ experience in the trade with emphasis on small precision stampings from progressive dies.
  • Effective written and verbal English communication.
  • Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, and EDM (plus).
