Pinnacle Propane Express (PPE), a division of JP Energy Partner sis a full service provider of propane grill cylinders for exchange for retailers and/or distributors. PPE has production facilities, districts, and depots in its marketing areas that refurbish, deliver, and distribute to the retailer. In addition to propane cylinders, PPE provides services such as quality storage cabinets, safety protection, safety and marketing training, and unique marketing branding enabling the retailer to provide point of purchase sales of both exchange and new propane grill cylinders.
Currently, PPE services 43 states.
The Routing Supervisor’s primary role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Routing Department. She/he is responsible for directly supervising the routing staff at the guidance of the Director of Routing. This includes monitoring routes that are issued to ensure compliance with company policies, efficiency, and focus on customer satisfaction. Oversee staff decisions and provide training and coaching of Routing Coordinators.
Emphasize a customer-focused approach and a positive work environment that stresses collaboration with other departments to improve operations. Develop and utilize KPI reporting to identify process improvement opportunities and work with Director of Routing to implement necessary changes.
- Primary supervisor for all Routing Coordinators in the course of daily operations. “Work the floor” daily to monitor operations and ensure customer delivery expectations are met
- Initial point of contact for Routing Coordinators seeking guidance on their routing decisions
- Coach, train, and mentor Routing Coordinators on the routing process and related company procedures to develop and grow the department
- Identify re-routing needs based on seasonality changes and input from Routing Coordinators. Schedule re-routes accordingly
- Work with the Director of Routing to oversee re-routes and coach Routing Coordinators on the process to allow them to take greater ownership of “their” districts
- Assist Director of Routing and Business Analyst in the development of standards and metrics to be used to guide routing decisions and evaluate routes/staff. Utilize these standard metrics to track the progress of the department
- In conjunction with Director of Routing develop and maintain route standards based on company identified metrics for evaluation of routes being issued
- Conduct regular audits of routes issued to identify opportunities for improvement and provide Routing Coordinators with feedback
- Aid in the development of SOP manuals for the Routing Department
- Foster a positive attitude and teamwork within the Routing Department and with other PPE departments/divisions
- Fill in as primary point of contact for field staff when their primary Routing Coordinator is not available
- Field customer calls with routing related concerns when Routing Coordinators are not available or a supervisor is required
- Review exception reports to insure proper corrective action is being taken
- Review problem accounts to ensure they are being appropriately prioritized and improve service
- Along with Director of Routing conduct regular staff meetings
- Monitor the shared PPE Dispatch inbox to make sure customer concerns are addressed in a timely manner by Routing Coordinators
- Aid operations staff in identifying depot needs and locations
- Assume primary routing duties for a district, as needed
- Take on Routing Coordinator duties to cover for staff on vacation, sick, etc.
- Complete special projects as assigned by Director of Routing
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Certified logistics expert (ASTL, SOLE, or equivalent)
Analytical background and experience developing KPIs
Routing and dispatching experience
Proven track record in a supervisory role
Strong communication skills and team oriented approach
Knowledge of routing & logistics software is preferred
