Role Overview

Have you ever designed & built ERP module from scratch? How about scaling it with AI?

We are seeking a Principal Engineer, ERP to design the architecture and development of our AI-powered enterprise resource planning platform. This IC role is for an engineer who has built and shipped enterprise business applications—particularly financial and accounting systems—and understands what it takes to make them production-ready for demanding enterprise customers.

You will bring deep domain expertise in how large organizations manage their core business processes: financial close, multi-entity consolidation, regulatory compliance, and audit requirements. You have likely worked on platforms like SAP, Oracle ERP, or Odoo, and you understand the difference between building software and building software that enterprises bet their operations on.

As a Principal Engineer, you will establish standards and best practices for how we build enterprise-grade systems. You will work alongside our existing principal engineers to augment the team’s capabilities in ERP domain expertise, operational excellence, and production readiness. This is a technical leadership role with significant influence over architecture, engineering practices, and the long-term quality of our platform.

What You’ll Do

- Lead the architecture and development of our core ERP platform including financial and accounting modules, ensuring they meet enterprise requirements for accuracy, auditability, and compliance
- Design multi-tenant data architectures that handle complex enterprise scenarios: multi-entity structures, intercompany transactions, multi-currency operations, and regulatory reporting
- Establish engineering standards for building production-ready enterprise systems, including release management, deployment strategies, and observability practices
- Define and implement security and compliance patterns required by enterprise customers (SOC2, GDPR, audit trails, data residency)
- Mentor engineers across the organization on enterprise software development practices and ERP domain concepts
- Collaborate with product leadership to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions

Qualifications

Required

- 10+ years of experience building enterprise business applications, with significant depth in financial systems, accounting platforms, or ERP products
- Strong understanding of financial and accounting domain concepts: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial close processes, multi-entity consolidation, and regulatory reporting

- Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP (especially S/4

HANA), Oracle ERP, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics, or Workday
- Proven track record of shipping enterprise software that handles real-world complexity: multi-tenant architectures, data consistency at scale, and zero-downtime deployments
- Deep expertise in database design for enterprise applications, including data modeling for financial systems, query optimization, and handling large transaction volumes
- Experience building systems that meet enterprise compliance requirements (SOC2, GDPR, SOX) with proper audit trails, access controls, and data governance
- Strong foundation in distributed systems fundamentals relevant to enterprise applications: data replication, eventual consistency patterns, and resilient system design
- Excellence in API design for enterprise integration scenarios, including RESTful services, webhooks, and batch processing interfaces

Preferred

- Direct experience with Odoo development (module architecture, ORM, customization patterns) or SAP HANA
- Background in building or implementing financial systems for large enterprises with complex organizational structures
- Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines and release engineering practices for enterprise software with strict change management requirements
- Familiarity with observability and SRE practices in the context of business-critical systems (SLOs, incident management, on-call frameworks)

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code
- Track record of migrating or modernizing legacy ERP systems
